Boehner Watch: BHO Bi-Partisanship???
I have been following John Boehner since October and he has said some interesting things lately. He says that Conservatives/Republicans should not wish for BHO’s failure because BHO needs to succeed in order for America to succeed. In a way, he is right. Let me just say this: I DO NOT WANT BHO’S LIBERAL IDEAS TO WORK!!!! But, if Republicans can somehow come up with a better plan and BHO likes it, BHO can compel Congress (especially the House) to consider it by forcing the Dems’ hand. No one about to seek re-election is going to want to be seen as undermining the President. The Republicans can play politics by going over Bella’s head. BHO is already willing to meet with Congressional Republicans. If he continues this trend throughout his Presidency, and the GOP continues to produce better plans and ideas, the GOP caucus may have its say yet. If Boehner & Co. play their cards right, they can use BHO’s bipartisanship and willingness to be all things to all people agains the Dems. However, I do realise that Bella Pelosi has imposed rules that will make it extremely difficult for Republicans to make their voices heard, but where there is a will, there is a way. And BHO may be doing all of this bi-partisan posturing for show. I am optimistic, but skeptical. I shall keep my eyes and ears open. Also, we have to realise that there will be some things that BHO does that we may like. They may be few and far between, but they will be there. We can’t suffer BHO Derangement Syndrome like the libs did with Bush. As fun as it may sound, two wrongs still DO NOT make a right. My whole point is this: Like John Boehner has said,”If it is good for the country, then I am for it.”

Martial Law Explained
A while back, right after the $700 Billion bailout was being worked out, someone pointed out that they thought they heard Nancy Pelosi mention “Martial Law” in one of her speeches. If the government was to impose Martial Law, it would only apply to banks and financial institutions. Most likely what would happen is that the government would impose strict withdrawal limits (in amounts withdrawn and number of withdrawals per day or week or month) on bank accounts, 401(k)s, money markets, CDs, stock sales, etc. They would also restrict banking hours and may even limit the number of days the Stock Market is open for trading. Europe is already doing this to some extent. Some European stock markets have suspended trading (on and off) and some banks are imposing withdrawal limits (2 withdrawals per day, and I believe there is a total amount limit as well) and limited banking hours in order to prevent a run on banks a la The Great Depression. This is a drastic step, but I do not think it is necessarily a bad thing because banks and markets collapse when hoardes of people make a run on them. I do not like the thought of Martial Law on any level, but this may truly be for our own good — as long as it remains limited to banks and financial institutions and is imposed for a very limited time (and BHO is NOT involved).

Tom Brokaw Grows A Pair
I just finished watching "Meet The Press" with Tom Brokaw and I am actually impressed. His guests tonight were Caroline Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, and a political roundtable discussion with Gwen Ifill, Jon Meacham, and Chuck Todd. I could not believe my ears when he was talking to Caroline Kennedy about BHO choosing Sen. Biden for his VP, Mr. Brokaw did not fawn all over Barack Obama, but actually acknowledged people's misgivings about BHO without kissing Oshama's butt or bashing John McCain. Also, he called Nazi Pelosi to the carpet for her investment in and endorsement of natural gas, and her flip-flopping stance on the surge in Iraq. It was beautiful. The one disappointment was when Ms. Pelosi said she was an "ardent Catholic" in one breath and then defended "a woman's right to choose" in the next, and Brokaw did not really call her out on it. Mr. Brokaw could have lit into her, but I will take whatever I can get. The most telling event of the interview came when Brokaw and Pelosi were talking about Sen. Biden and how he and Hillary can "sell" Obama's childhood at the convention and on the campaign trail. Obama was abandoned by his father and was raised mostly by his grandmother, but he says in his autobiograhy that he "raised himself". Boo hoo. Poor Baby, here's a tissue. Would you like some cheese with your whine??? Typical Liberals appealing to feeling and emotions and avoiding policy positions. It seems as if the message is we should vote for BHO because we feel sorry for him. Well, I'm not buying it.
